good benefits, flexible, poor pay, lack of culture
Pros
Super flexible, can really work wherever whenever as long as you're getting your job done and available for meetings during work hours. People are respectful to each other, but not much culture just working quietly alongside one another, the benefits are great- $0 taken out for health, dental, vision, etc. and good 401K match opportunities. Very organized and responsive admin if you ever need anything there's someone who can and will help. If i was a parent who didn't care much about salary or culture, but valued flexibility and benefits I would have stayed here forever.
Cons
Everyone is unsatisfied with pay, definitely not somewhere to work if you're looking to move up, when you accept you're pretty much stuck at that level for a while and while you can SLOWLY earn more and work your way up, you can never get too high (i.e. no one makes good money). Really difficult to work there during any government unease- lots of layoffs, lost project work/$, and stress. Also general stress is pretty high, we're always concerned with project budget and hours, need to get things done super quickly and efficiently but also make sure you have enough work to bill 8 hours every day so it's a constant balancing act. There's also no culture, people are nice to each other but that's about it, we had awkwardly polite virtual happy hours but typically very quiet and reserved, and within teams there's a lot of secret competition and beef but no one ever acknowledges it just allude to it or has hard conversations (e.g. supervisors wouldn't give constructive criticism during reviews but all of a sudden you'd get called out in front of people), for a long time our employee satisfaction surveys were horrible and there was no plan to improve despite being a place full of consultants, very ironic
