Pros

Health Benefits are fully paid, the location isn't terrible. They do a lot to manufacture a collegial environment, primarily through catered events and seasonal outings

Cons

Free lunches came to appear more like an attempt to placate & distract those who would speak up for market rate salaries, well-qualified promotions, or competent managers. Everything others have said about favoritism is true--it doesn't help that the company is family owned and led, and that there are several familial relationships companywide (marital, filial, siblings). There were several managers whose incompetence as researchers/project managers/leaders were open secrets whispered over coffees in the kitchen, These types passed blame down to others, or when called out for their mismanagement fired those who raised the issue. The employees who put in the time/effort, who are sharp and promotable, who have integrity, are the sorts that are pushed out. As an aside, diversity at Fors Marsh is no more than an optics game. As a person of color, I felt targeted for my identity and in speaking with others, came to understand that the lack of respect was a common and longstanding practice.

Pros

Work/life balance is great, as is the benefits package. The work can be rewarding at times, but largely depends on who your supervisor is what team you're on.

Cons

Places a very high premium on PhDs, such that those with an MA or a BA aren't trusted as much with important tasks. Workload is unbalanced and can be incredibly slow at times.

Pros

As another reviewer commented, I am almost certain that FMG management planted the other "positive" reviews on this page. Despite this, I do have a few good things to say... As I recall, the health benefits are very good; the other benefits are run-of-the-mill, but at least they are provided! The people are smart and motivated.

Cons

This is a small firm that, while well-intentioned, is most certainly experiencing growing pains that have been ill-handled. There are serious problems with work allocation and utilization of employees' skills and abilities. PhDs with no work experience are valued above seasoned professionals with BA/MS degrees. This helps to bring in contracts; it does not help to motivate other employees/candidates. Employees are routinely mistreated in terms of being denied promotions and raises. Pay is therefore noncompetitive for those who are above entry-level. As several other reviewers have noted, it is an eerily nepotistic environment which fosters cronyism and a shared feeling of being left in the water while the rising tide lifts only the managers' boats. Finally, like many shops in NoVa/DC, this firm has clearly not made a concerted effort to hire talented people of color.
