What I observe from my campus...
-PLCs are run by admin. Feels very top-down and Big Brother-like. No room for free exchange of ideas. Don't dare express disagreement. It's not at all Professional. I'm not learning. It doesn't
feel like community either.
- There are lots of schools that should be Title I and get those resources, but the district (or neighborhood associations) won't agree to the designation because they are afraid of property values going down. We have lots of kids whose families are under economic stress and we don't get extra resources/staff to deal with their needs.
-This district still used the disproven Balanced Literacy approach - even though it is ineffective. They just threw a little phonics into the curriculum, but it is not helping.
