Disrespectful, disorganized and psychologically unsafe
Pros
Good tech stack Sub-standard benefits Not much else
Cons
Benefits: Subpar health insurance and parental leave. 401k match is tiny Standard parental leave policy in tech is 3-6 months, here it's a paltry 6 weeks. Culture: Below is a brief personal opinion of the eng culture I experienced while I was at Fullstory. This is up there with one of the most toxic experiences I've ever had in my 20+ year Engineering career. My manager fostered a very toxic and psychologically unsafe work environment. They would cut me off while I was speaking, tell me that I didn't say something(gaslighting me) and even accuse me of things I've never done. There's no room for dissenting opinion at Fullstory. They do not value psychological safety nor engaging in healthy debate. They will disrespect you and expect you to commit to their vision in the same sentence. I watched my manager engage in ego wars and shut down healthy engineering debate with seemingly one goal: to be the smartest in the room. I wish I listened to my gut when these red flags first presented themselves and that I left earlier. During interviews FS touted a "no brilliant jerks" policy; it's clear those are just words that are said and not values that are actually held by Fullstory leadership. This manager took out their aggression out on me after I shared some work related dissenting opinions about our work in our private channel. I reported this behavior to HR and they defended it by stating: "We try not to interfere with a managers style." This manager single-handedly destroyed the mental health of multiple teammates and HR defended it as their style. Yikes. Stay far away if you value your mental health. There are so many other healthy companies and leaders to work for who will grow you as an individual rather than trying to flex on you.
