Pros

- Fast recruiting process (if they want you to join) - High & fair compensation (you can easily negotiate a hiring bonus) - Strong benefits - (Mostly) kind, hardworking coworkers

Cons

- FullStory "lives" by clarity, empathy and bionics. Sadly, they are not living by any of those core values - as much as they may try to project it. To begin, things are not very bionic there. For a start-up, they are doing ok, but the processes, too many systems, etc. are weak and there are ton of issues (you are often digging through wrong information and fixing it). I could overlook this if this was the only issue... - In terms of clarity, it is not clear what they want you to focus on most and how to spend your time. FS is huge on OKRs (objectives and key results) each quarter so employees can help ramp up the business. However, they don't even mention how big of a deal this is during the interview process. Even if you are hitting your or exceeding your target #s, that is clearly overlooked here. They also tell you to question everything and bring ideas of improvement from your past company, but if you focus too much on your last company's progress, they will shame that and not encourage that as part of their culty culture. - The biggest one here is they love to project being "empathetic" and a "family." They are far from it... I had a very toxic, micromanager who tried to push me out of the door early on. They questioned minor things I did - like an innocent question asked during a team meeting or a brief, direct slack that I sent. Very minor stuff that the average person would not have even paid attention to. This caused me a lot of anxiety and concern not knowing what was and was not going to be okay by them. - We tried working past all of this. I worked hard, my #s were strong (the highest on the team), I worked well with our internal teams and overall - I was doing well. During my 90 day performance review, I got positive feedback and 0 warnings. - All of a sudden a month later, I'm told a HR rep would be joining our standard 1:1 10 minutes prior to the call. My manager joins and in a monotone, robotic tone tells me I'm not performing at the level I'm supposed to and goes through a bunch of things I had done wrong and need to improve. They then lay out the "plan" if I want to keep my employment over the next month. I immediately quit and said there was no positive path forward at this place when clearly they were trying to get me out without warrant. - We never once spoke about a warning for a performance plan. Not one hint. Nothing. No warning - I was completely blindsided. - Ultimately, they won, because they got me out of the door and to quit on my own. But I also won, because he'll have to pick up all of the pieces of what I was working on and find a new, strong employee. - I share this story, because I know I'm not the only one that this has happened to. They poached me from a company I was very happy at, hire fast and weed out people very early on. This is a sad, toxic place to work that is trying to project caring, empathy. If you get an attractive offer here, just know that the other side is not always greener... it's probably rotting, dark brown.

Still promising, but what happened?

Pros

FullStory was a special place. The people could not have been more incredible. The product, game changing. The branding, fun and meaningful. The culture, one of a kind. The leadership, creative and passionate. FullStory is still an innovative company, but the rocket ship that once seemed unstoppable may now not even make it into orbit.

Cons

Everything changed with a desire to move upmarket. New leadership was brought in from capital E enterprise companies. With them came nepotism and went opportunity. Great people that had built what FullStory was, left the company and the hiring bar fell, replacing these great people with good ones, but losing what made the company special. Culture evaporated, gone was Hugging, a role that set FullStory apart and was beloved by even our largest customers. Branding went from fun and well thought out to just meh. FullStory sacrificed what made it special in a pursuit of “the enterprise.” The biggest sacrifice in that pursuit was the employee.

Pros

- Benefits - Most ICs are very talented

Cons

As many reviews here say, management is a huge problem. On the engineering side they are mostly people who were probably great engineers but don't understand basic leadership. They lead with ego and fear. Very likely to throw you under the bus or blame their team for their mistakes. The product is failing as their competitors pull further and further ahead while they argue over the most pointless things to appear like the smartest in the room. If you want to argue about variable naming and which of these two nearly identical designs is better, this is your place. If you want to build cool stuff and actually deliver value to someone, then expect to be shut down constantly. One of the wildest experiences in my career was watching a 4th round of layoffs happen in my 2 years, asking in a meeting if we should find a way to prioritize customer feedback, then being told we needed to re-write a module that worked and had just been rewritten the last year because "we needed to standardize it". When I asked why we would prioritize that over features: "Maybe you should go take a basic class in code design" I was told.
