Pros

Benefits are normal, pay is average, new building in Modesto is nice but excessive. Commuting to Modesto isn’t terrible, but you need to be okay with 3 hours a day extra on a bus. If you are a low performer you don’t have to worry about getting fired, so that could be a pro for some people.

Cons

Gallo is about playing politics and knowing the right people to get ahead. If you are a smooth talker or a manipulative master, you’ll move up the ladder fast. Senior Leaders are abhorrent and lack empathy or the desire to coach their teams. Work-life balance is a fallacy. Leadership care more about their brand revenue than the stress employees are under.

"Built on relationships" (aka. It's all about who you know.)

Pros

Great work life balance and opportunities to grow if you're willing to jump around from role to role or department to department.

Cons

1. Company hasn't figured out how to continuously reward high functioning individual contributors which leads employees to constantly shift from role to role and/or department to department. 2. There seems to be a lack of career planning- its pushed down to the employee ("you're responsible for your own success"). There's also heavy emphasis placed on time served when it should be merit. 4. Special dispensations are abundant, but its all about who you know.

Pros

If you want a government type job where you fill a seat and retire in 25 years, this is the place for you. Gallo provides okay health benefits and pay is average. Ability to work from home and summer hours are nice for Fridays. There is a wine shop with 50% discounts and it can be a nice perk for family.

Cons

Gallo has vapid leadership from Director and Senior Manager levels. Management plays politics and if you are not kissing up to your leaders, you will not go anywhere. You will notice promotions are based on who quits the company and not on amount of time in the job or contributions to the department. If you question the status quo, you will be black listed and pushed out of the company. Gallo would rather award mediocre performers than someone who wants to make change. Gallo needs to fix the issues instead of cover it up with bandages. The culture is not diverse and continues to lose the limited diversity it once had.
