Pros

Free wine, some flexibility to work from home, most employees are friendly and welcoming.

Cons

Expects you to be on call always, shorting people on raises despite excellent work performance and skyrocketing cost of living, always asking employees to do more for less to save the company money. An example, performance feedback throughout the year being nonexistent, final review feedback all positive, and giving PA reviews of successfully meets level. Meaning you do your job exceptionally well all year, taking on extra job responsibilities since half your team left, train people in and out of your department, receive no improvement opportunities from your manager all year despite requesting them, and still they give you a measly merit increase of less than 2%. Your work will be thanked verbally by senior leadership but when it comes to putting their budgets where their mouths are it doesn't happen.

Pros

Free wine and spirits in meetings

Cons

Not what they hype themselves up to be. High turnover. Most people don’t last more than a year because they work you like a dog and it’s not even fun. Very use & abuse environment. You will work in grocery stores stocking shelves and building wine displays, so boring & does not give you real job experiences to launch you in different career paths. Unsanitary, unsafe working conditions in back rooms for grocery stores, not equipped well enough to be “grocery store employee” you have to break rules to be a top performer and break your back working long hours and sometimes weekends. NO WORK LIFE BALANCE. You get burnt out fast. You have to hoard work boxes home and have to house it yourself. They make you take tons of wine display pieces home weekly and stuff your cars with it and do not provide additional Storage. They do not care if you get harassed in stores or injured. Only want to continue business relationship with stores to meet goals. Very “clique” type of environment with favoritism of employees. Management is full of friends and do not keep anything confidential. Managers are apart of weekend partying with younger employees and do not act professional at all. Very repetitive type job each month and goals are very hard to achieve/unrealistic. Upper management is HORRIBLE. They can never correctly answer questions you may have and the follow up is nonexistent. Do not recommend working here, low pay for the requirements they have.

Pros

A commuter shuttle from the East Bay Area (Oakland, Dublin, Livermore). 3% 401k match. Seasonal summer hours (work 9 hours Mon-Thurs, half day on Friday), weekly one on one meeting with management to discuss projects and professional development goals. The company values your professional development and wants you to be successful (with them).

Cons

Paternal leave is almost non-existent in comparison to the adjustments other companies are making. I would be much happier with a more generous paternal leave. Several male employees speak about the need for a better paternal leave policy, but the culture stifles the voice of these male employees to request a change in this policy. There is no commuter shuttle from any other areas, and it is in demand considering the commute for some employees. Tuition reimbursement for higher education usually gets denied. Health benefits are weak and expensive for employees and their families. Also, specific roles allow employees to work from home once a week (which could easily be extended given the nature of such functions). As long as employees are productive, I do not see why this is an issue. Given the rapid development of technology, telecommuting should not be a foreign concept in an organization, especially given that the location of the organization is in Modesto, which isn't central for many employees.
