      Mixed Feelings - Shopper Marketing

      Pros

      Gallo is a great resume builder and they seem to care about their employees from a corporate standpoint. The rest of the industry takes notice when you've been a part of this organization.

      Cons

      A lot of this is luck of the draw. If you have great departmental leadership then your experience at Gallo might be really positive. I reported to one amazing leader in my time there, four mediocre managers, and last and certainly least was the monster of a micromanager that drove me to seek other employment. If I can give any advice to someone looking at Gallo it would be to build your resume and get out. My career was stuck at Gallo and I was never given a real opportunity to thrive. Since leaving, my new company culture has been night and day and I've excelled greatly under leadership that gave me a real opportunity.

      Great company....but culture needs to improve!

      Pros

      There are many Pros: -Exciting Industry (who doesn't love wine!) -Family Owned -Great Culture and Values -Full of talented people and self-starters -Family away from home -Work life balance -Good benefits and average salaries

      Cons

      Some major Cons: -Some senior leaders don't follow, promote or exhibit the corporate values -People don't feel valued /appreciated -Work life balance is relative. It varies based on departments and marital status (single people with no kids are “expected” to work longer hours, while people with kids are allow to leave earlier or work from home) -Gallo culture is not homogeneous across departments -Lack of career growth and promotions based on merit -Lack of diversity representation in senior leadership positions

      Love It, But We HAVE To Address Some Problems

      Pros

      The industry is a fun one and working for a company with such a diverse portfolio of products is wonderful. I personally feel incredibly supported by my manager and love that they listen to what I say and advocate for me. As somebody with a chronic condition, I can say the healthcare is wonderful. The employee store is an added benefit. There are plenty of opportunities for education. I have a great work-life balance. I absolutely love working here. We just have some problems that desperately need to be addressed.

      Cons

      - Modesto is a terrible city to work (commute is long, shuttles don't change that) - No creativity within marketing org - HEAVY privilege of white, heterosexual males. No POC or LGBT at the Director, Sr. Director or VP+ levels. (Employee Resource Groups don't remedy this.) - Promotions only happen when somebody quits, not because somebody is actually don't a great job.
