HR doesn't care about employees

Pros

I really liked working on the products.

Cons

During the pandemic, when asked about the well-being of employees, HR told me that GE's main priority is servicing and selling to their customers. They don't care about employees' mental well-being or psychological safety. They also layoff employees every 3 years because they want "fresh" talent. Former CEO Jack Welch's cost-saving and layoff strategy is the reason why employees are burnt out and have no job security.

Pros

I loved my coworkers and made real best friends in my time there.

Cons

Don’t let the benefits fool you, they are not what they seem. Healthcare premiums are tiered on pay and if you get a bonus that pushes you into the next tier, they’ll hold you there permanently - often that means paying an extra 1700 dollars per year for high deductible (4K+) plans. Executive leadership likes to run the teams not just thin, but at skeleton level. You won’t just do your own job, you’ll cover the last two people’s work who were fired or left too. If you can get past all that, then you’ll sit through months of uncertainty while leadership hems and haws trying to make their mind up on product direction. Legal has entirely too much unchecked power. We all just helplessly watched as they protected a newer employee who flat out lied in a complaint and managed to get two exceptional employees fired. Meanwhile that team defamed and gossiped about the employees in all their “interviews” with us which were just hostile verbal assaults. Morale is in the toilet in xray and it’s time to talk about it.

Pros

It kept me from starving/

Cons

GE does not care about their employees. If the union employees came so close to a strike, think of how bad the non-union employees have it. I was physically assaulted at work by another employee. I told my boss about it, and he told me that if I went to HR, I would be fired because the other employee had more seniority than I did. I was also injured in a way that several other employees had previously been injured. GE does not care about your health or safety. The rest of my life is going to be sad and boring because these injuries are keeping me from doing my hobbies that I used to love. Vote for Bernie.
