Pros

This *used to be* a great place to work & there are still some genuinely lovely people working there if you're lucky enough to find them. Work from home (for now, though they don't guarantee that will continue long term)

Cons

Culture has changed from slow and steady with emphasis on valuing and retaining employees to a desire to be a big tech company with constant layoffs, fast pace, and micromanagment. Lots of turnover amongst upper management creates constantly changing priorities and decisions downstream making much work obsolete within months of completion (if it even makes it to release). Bonuses have been eliminated for all but top performers (there used to be generous profit sharing for all employees)

Pros

There are zero reasons to work at GEICO at this time. Every good thing has been stripped away.

Cons

The company has gone from a wonderful place to work where the CEO knew all of us personally, which is no easy feat with a company of this size. He cared. He knew how it was. He could have stepped in and done any of our jobs. He knew the company and knew the business. His replacement has zero experience in insurance and is not visible and not part of the company other to send emails yearly. He is invisible. Promised WFH and took it away. Promised job security and took it away. There is nothing of the company left that I started with. I would not insure here if it were the last company in the US. I could not trust that the people left care enough to take care of policy holders or even have the skills needed since the trainers were all “excessed”.

Pros

Pay. Meeting people who you can struggle through this job with.

Cons

Where to start. I’ve worked at geico for over 15 years. The culture has degraded to the point I’m embarrassed to tell someone where I’m employed. Company constantly adds new job task and piles on the workload. Never ending stream of calls. Unobtainable bonus. Got rid of profit sharing. Zero fun factor and you will dread signing into work. Got rid of WFH. Managers do nothing. Fired all of the IT department and the systems are absolutely terrible constantly has tech errors and makes your job even harder than it was. Applications are outdated and not user friendly. no one knows when or if anything will get updated including managers. Managers don’t care about employees because they just use this company as a resume builder to move on to a better company. Decent pay and leave policies but it’s not worth it if you value your mental health. After Tony nicely retired this company has went down the drain. It’s a shame.
