Pros

I am not that great of a writer (that is why I do videos for Top Rated MMA), but I will do my best to give a little insight into my first 60 days as a "Gainster". Before I go into what my experience has been with working at Gainsight, let me give you a little background into my experience with Gainsight as a non-employee. I have had a lot of jobs over my career, mostly in sales. I have had the pleasure of working for some amazing bosses and companies and I have had the unfortunate luck of working for some really bad companies and bosses as well. One thing that has always been important to me when looking for a company to put my blood, sweat, and tears into is the culture. How does this company treat their employees, do the people have the same values that I have, are the employees happy and proud to work there, etc. I was fortunate enough to get the 'go ahead" from my boss at the time back in 2017 to go attend Pulse that year in Oakland (I was the ONLY person from the state of Idaho at the event). The Customer Success team was just me at the time so I went solo, not knowing anyone, just me headed to downtown Oakland in hopes of getting some tips and tricks from those in the Customer Success industry. What I didn't realize is that I would get so much more out of that trip. I went down a day early to attend the Gainsight Leadership training (I don’t remember the exact name of this training). I sat in the front row and took half a notebook full of notes. Not only did I make tons of great connections, but I noticed something. I noticed that the Leadership and employees of Gainsight were extremely happy to work there. I get that they were at a conference and they “have to” act a certain way, but I have a pretty good sense of people. I noticed that they were proud to work there and proud to be under the leadership of Nick Mehta. I went up to Nick to introduce myself and I remember he couldn’t shake my hand because he had just been really sick, but offered to do an “Elbow Bump” instead. In the few minutes I had speaking with Nick, I could tell that he truly loved being at Gainsight and loved all those that worked there as well, and he really was interested in talking with me. I won’t bore you with the details, but if you missed the 2017 Pulse, you missed out. It was truly an amazing experience. Flash forward to Pulse 2018, I was able to again attend Pulse but this time was able to bring a 2 awesome dudes that I had brought on as CSMs to my team. This year’s Pulse was in San Mateo at the fairgrounds, and again another amazing event. While I was at the event I noticed the same thing as the previous year, the folks working for Nick Mehta and Gainsight were extremely proud to work there. I again found Nick to say hello and say thanks for putting on another great event. Sidenote - I never used the Gainsight platform until I worked for Gainsight. Ok, now I will share what my experience has been at Gainsight since coming on board with them just over 60 days ago. I can say that it has been the BEST experience that I have had the honor of having in my career. I work remote out of my house and that works for some people and not others but for me I thrive working out of the house. I signed an offer letter on a Friday morning in March and on Saturday morning (the next day) I received a “Welcome Package” from Gainsight with books, and other goodies that I won’t go into detail on. I then received a 2nd package a few days letter with more items to help me on my journey at Gainsight. I didn’t expect to receive anything from them when I took the job and the contents of those boxes really showed how much care they have for their employees. I guess I shouldn’t say employees, because it feels more like family. Since I have become a “Gainster” I have had co-workers and teammates reach out to see how things are going and offer to help in anyway they can. I have had teammates offer to pray for me and my family. I have had leadership come up to me and ask what my experience has been and to offer any additional help where I need it. I believe there are only a few opportunities in your life where you get to work with truly great people and I am extremely blessed and proud to be able to work for Gainsight and the leadership team. Why did I write this? Well one I had it on my heart this morning while I was praying, and two as I am at Pulse 2019, I am reminded of how awesome Gainsight truly is and how awesome their culture is and how awesome the “Gainster” family is. I don’t write this to kiss butt, I write this to encourage those of you that are not feeling the love and purpose in your current role. I encourage you to find a company that is proud to have you on the team like I have felt at Gainsight. I encourage you to do what you love and encourage you to overcome fear of failing and to stop being content in a role that you know in your heart that you are not supposed to be in. “In every day, there are 1,440 minutes. That means we have 1,440 daily opportunities to make a positive impact.” - Les Brown

Cons

I haven't come across any yet. Everything is working great right now.

Pros

An amazing company to work for! Every co-worker is focused on making the organization successful and a true leader in a new industry. From the best-of-breed tech, to the thought leadership, Gainsight is positioning itself for a very bright future and high valuation IPO. The list of perks are very hard to beat: - Better than industry compensation - Employer paid Healthcare - Unlimited PTO - Catered lunches and snacks - Leadership who is focused on your success - Executive team who are focused on growth but also on the employees - CEO is truly amazing. Work ethic, intelligence, passion, openness, humble. I cannot say enough good things about Nick.

Cons

While the company is leading the industry and had approximately 500 employees, it is still in start-up mode which means some processes are still being developed. Additionally if you are a remote employee you need to work a bit to stay plugged in. Other areas for improvement include: - 401k match - Corporate cards - Sharing perks with Remote teams - Lack of clarity on components that will make up variable compensation - On-boarding program needs to be expanded

Thanks for the ideas. It's obvious your advice is well-thought out and constructive. Two comments. Agree that onboarding could be better. In fact, revamping onboarding is one of five company initiatives this quarter (part of our Gainsight Way focus for the fiscal year). Stay tuned... Regarding your comment about keeping the needs of our remote employees top of mind, we agree! We have a few ideas that are being implemented and we're looking for some new ideas as well. For example, beginning this quarter, our All Hands will be held by video conference (no in-person session) so that the experience is actually designed to better meet the needs of all of our teammates. Please please share more ideas if you have them. Thanks again for your thoughtful review.
