Pros

Great benefits (healthcare, 401k match, stock purchase plan), talented engineers

Cons

Salaries are on the low side overall. For the Auto OEM department specifically, there are multiple silos in the group. The department cannot agree on common tools to use (ex: requirements tool is different between system and hardware/software engineers). There is a lack of planning, which leads to fire after fire as engineers scramble to get components ready in time. Lots of late nights and weekends because of this. Other departments do not suffer from this scramble, and are much better run.

Pros

Garmin is an ethical company that care about providing good products and services to customers. They have good health benefits, so if you or a family member are sick or need maternity leave, they are a great place for that.

Cons

Promises or advancement opportunities were false, you have to work their 9 plus years before openings for advancement are options. Compensation is bellow market and raises are minimal or less than inflation so the longer you work their the more responsibilities they will give you with very little compensation. Product Support is left out of most decisions and are treated like second class workers. Marketing and Engineering don't associate with Product Support or ask their opinions. Marketing may do something that doesn't make sense and then leave it to Product Support to mop up the mess.
