Pros

People are fairly nice and willing to help for the most part.

Cons

The ideation that this place is cult like is fairly true. They suck you and have new employees but into company propaganda fairly quickly. Truth is, this product is losing steam rapidly especially with AI coming into the fold. The role is geared towards new college graduates who are excited at the prospect of their first “big boy/girl” job. Those graduates then get lured in by the name, and end up staying years because all they know is the Gartner ecosystem. Performing IC’s are typically promoted to management which means managers have very little actual management experience which leads to a toxic culture. Crappy pay, crappy insurance, silo’d culture, out of touch leaders, cultish environment. Run, run, run.

Pros

Some team members are among the best coworkers you will ever have.

Cons

Many in management are there due to political ambition and not the ability to lead or execute objectives. Politics drives the company culture, which is primarily focused on reducing expenses to generate revenue. The company had a culture of experts that drove growth and market recognition. However, many in management now view junior, inexperienced employees as the future, at a lower cost. This mindset created hurdles for experienced, older team members. Your direct manager can be your friend one minute and your roadblock the next. Impacting your ability to meet your objectives - think "quiet firing." Even if you do succeed and blow your targets out of the water, it doesn't mean you are rewarded. There have been several "quiet" layoffs across various groups, which have led to morale issues. Compared to industry competitors, salaries and compensation are lower. Training and investment in employees are left to the discretion of the employees. There are no planned budgets for this, and if you want to take a course, you are required to create a business case and hope your manager will advocate for it.

Pros

Gartner pays well if you come from an external company at a high position. Gartner pays you to travel all over the world if this is something you enjoy. If you love working, you will have continuous work.

Cons

The Event Management team is led by terrible leaders and if you have not worked there since the beginning you are always on the cutting board and your job never feels safe or protected. During Covid, the team was pleasant but as Covid was over the nice people were discarded and the mean women ruled once again. You will work 70+ hour weeks (never see family & friends) and still not feel relevant. It is difficult to get promoted. If you start at this company, you will have a low salary till the end. Don't depend on HR as they are paid by the company and there to help the company not the employees. Stressful team No work life balance
