Pros
Students are inspiring. As an instructor you can learn things from your co-instructor and students. Don't assume you know everything. Convenient if you want to take a break from doing design and want to teach Sometimes you get free lunch
Cons
Full time instructors are hired on contract. There is no career path or permanent hiring. There is no benefits. Contractors are hired as independent contractors on a 1099 yet independent contractors are under control of General assembly managers. Questionable tax basis from an IRS standpoint of whether contractors are independent contractors or 'employees'. Pay as an instructor is far less than what industry pay is if you are working as a person in your line of work. Curriculum is dated and needs work. Curriculum is buggy, aka slide are in wrong order, there's no cohesion between curriculum guides and presentations, etc. Job is far more than 40 hours of teaching a week. As an instructor you need to modify curriculum to fit your needs since important sections are missing; you need to be available for students because they have questions and want to learn; you may have to write presentation because there are topics you think are important from an industry standpoint but GA curriculum provides no basis Lack of planning and forecasting to schedule instructors for future classes, it's all scheduling at the last minute. As an instructor it gives you a one off experience. There's work that the instructor & partner teams are supposed to do; it's offloaded to instructors.
