      Fantastic time for the company

      Pros

      Fantastic time to be here. We are working on "cloudification" of our old services and learning new technologies while still not losing our experience and users of mature products. Heavy investment in education. Love it. Acquisition of Interactive Intelligence was a fantastic move as well. We got some great technology experience and really bright people with this acquisition. Overall this is great company that is not afraid of change and at the same time not reckless with its older customers and products. Great coffee. Starbucks had to close their location in shame. Theoretically unlimited time off. Super-easy commute and free parking.

      Cons

      Compensation could be better but at the same time I feel very safe here. Sometimes the number of people in the middle management seems too high. They also get very busy coordinating and deadlocking themselves. Company issued laptops are decent but heavily loaded with enterprise crapware that cannot be disabled. OK for management types but drives developers nuts. Cannot understand negative reviews coming from Indianapolis office. Have not met any unhappy people from Indy myself.

      Clear management disconnect and overall lack of motivation/dedication

      Management is very motivated on making the company better.

      Cons

      The management team is very excited about changes coming, but nobody on the ground is. There is a clear lack of motivation and everyone treats this as a 8 hour work day without putting in any effort to change the company into a better place. Herein lies the disconnect between management. Management wants the work done but nobody actually doing the work wants to put in the time and effort, and simply wants to maintain the status quo. In addition, the ones that are motivated in working have their suggestions simply tossed out the window because management thinks they know better. Rather than using the current technologies that every other company is using, they insist on using legacy methods to manage cloud infrastructure. Very old-school corporate.

Due to the success and growth of Genesys, we have grown locally in Toronto by 15% this year (in a period of 6 months). I agree there have been some local challenges this year and I have personally focused on improving this very recently. As a result, we have re-adjusted management responsibilities and brought in additional experienced management talent. Decisions on technology, architecture, processes, and tools are complex, especially as we continue to make acquisitions and shift rapidly to the cloud, microservices and full automation. I am excited about our compelling direction, as we combine the agility that is enabled by "current" technologies/automation while enabling the sophistication and unbeatable tight integration of the entire Genesys product suite.
