Pros

Decent (not great¹) pay and benefits, some flexibility such as scheduling your own days, apart from the administrative tasks required and office politics, the actual work of supporting patients and families can be very rewarding.

Cons

Overworked employees; management takes advantage of the caring professionals who will always try to do right by their patients, and does nothing to address the long hours employees work. The company states they care about work-life balance, value their employees, and strive to provide the best possible care to patients and families, but in the end the true focus is on the bottom line -- Medicare measures, productivity measures, etc., and these are the measures which define quality care and the worth of an employee.

Pros

Autonomy and ability to arrange day as best as possible, great team of nurses and support staff. Fleet car option. flexibility. Reimbursement for phone.

Cons

Work-home Life balance is lacking, no respect for time off or regular hours. Expected to be available all time. Territories do not make sense and everyone is in all directions. On call pay and PRN visit pay Low for salary staff making it not worthwhile to pick up extra. Lots of extra hours charting after hours and weekends, 40 hours is easily 55 but with pay of 40. No admissions nurse but way too many office bosses who are not on the same page now and with a focus on admissions and census numbers
