If you're an engineer/ geologist/ scientist, etc: 1) Great opportunities for advancement. career growth, salary 2) Diverse client base 3) Diverse practice areas 4) Ability to build an individual practice specialty 5) High tolerance for geekiness/ quirkiness 6) Highly diverse employees
Cons
If you're not an engineer/ geologist/ scientist, etc .. 1) There is no real career ladder for non-engineering/ etc. staff., no ability to be promoted, only OK salary advancement, Non-engineering employees are not valued 2) Corporate organization is very, very stove piped -- offices/ divisions/ regions do not comunnication with each other nor share information. 3) Corporate leadership and culture is one of non-communication -- information about changes, reorgs, growth, new clients, new practices, etc. is not disseminated company wide -- more of a gossip/ trickle down situation 4) People leave and the only way to know is 1) gossip or 2) an email bounce back 5) Company is top notch in client services, but still functioning as the 20-person company it was 20 years ago -- emphasis on being an entrepreneur rather than part of a corporate organization 6) No corporate overview in terms of messaging, marketing, client presentations, etc. -- there is no 'one-look/ one feel' that a company of 750+ should have
