Pros

Cool coworkers 5 words for pros isn't possible.

Cons

Joke of a union If you think you will make a difference look elsewhere for employment Terrible pay Horrible hours Management doesn't take suggestions Some customers expectations are absurd Once again, the pay. The union takes 17 out of your paycheck when you start out. And what do you get in return? Nothing! .15 cents above min. wage, no benefits, nothing.

Pros

Good benefits, 3 days off on holiday weeks if full time and a week vacation after one year. A lot of nice customers.

Cons

low pay even after 11 years still not making $13.00 an hour. Constantly have the way things are to be done changed and then getting written up when you don't do them the new way because you haven't been told there is a new way, hours constantly cut but expected to do the work of two or three people. Work your butt off to do a good job and do things the way management wants them but get no recognition or even a thank you. One day you are told you are doing a great job and the next you are told you need to step things up and work harder. Corporate bosses come in and don't even talk to anyone who isn't a team leader or management. Most of the employees, especially the front end employees, don't even know who the Corporate people are when they come in. Management likes to place blame on people without hearing both sides of the situation. Cross training is still done on the basis of who you know and who likes you rather than skill or who has been there the longest. When I first started with the company those who had been there the longest were treated with respect and were appreciated now it seems that the longer you have been there the more they treat you as if you don't matter and you are the first to be let go. Benefits are good but you hurt people who have a medical condition that requires more than 2 weeks off on medical leave when you changed the leave policy.

Pros

you make a coworker family there based on the mutual hatred you have for the company, employee discounts

Cons

understaffed, terrible management in the departments (if there is a manager, my department didn't have a manager most of the 2 years i was there, when we did get one they were transferred again within the month), policies vary by how the M.I.C. is feeling that week, HR is too strict considering i took a 16 minute break and got a verbal warning, literally NO training - didn't know how to do 60% of my job 1 year into working there because nobody would show me, forced to work on my birthday both years i was there, can't take vacation on certain weeks which is weird, no benefits for part time, they work their employees to the ground, charge lot employees for bottles of water, haven't updated their orientation videos for years, ran out of stock several times solely because the managers didn't know how to prepare for sales, if you have a doctor's note for water or food you are not allowed to keep it near you in a department even if it's in the back room and out of the way - i would've had to run halfway across the store just to take my medication and if it was a busy day that was not an option, talked down to for making a simple and honest mistake, guilt-tripped if you call in sick or unable to come to work because of an emergency, if you and another coworker don't get along they usually schedule you together regardless because they just don't care, also accuse employees of stealing
