Pros

I enjoyed time spent with my coworkers.

Cons

No benefits until you work there for 18 months. Forced to pay union dues for a union that was in Giant's pocket. Schedule could be changed at any time during the week, so every day you must either ask to see the notebook where the schedules are written, or call in and wait until someone can check it for you. Entitled, rude customers, who would get angry at me because I couldn't take 20 cents off their lettuce without waiting five minutes for a manager to come do it. One of the managers was both lazy and a bully. Management forces you to ask every customer for ridiculous donations (one time I had to ask everyone for seven dollars!) and would never order enough plastic bags, so we'd always run out and the customers would be angry with us. I was also consistently scheduled to work 6 days a week, instead of 5.

Pros

- Paid vacation - It's a paying job - 1 paid day off every 4 months

Cons

- Little to no room for promotion - Working 6 days a week 6-8 hours a day as a part-time employee including every weekend since I started 4 years ago, so not much room to have a life. - Forced to stay/work over time to pick up after/finish the work of other employees who are scheduled the same amount of time as you, but are allowed to leave on time. - Broken equipment. - Pitiful wages and tiny raises. - Rampant favoritism of management for certain employees. - Managers with little to no management experience. - A high turn over rate on new employees. - Managers love to fire people and wait months to replace them, expecting us to work even longer hours to pick up the slack. - Full time employees who look down on part timers, expect the part timers to do all of the heavy/hard work and managers who give a pass to full timers but give part timers a hard time. - Management uses fear and threats to try to force you to do things. I've been threatened with termination on more than one occasion when I told my supervisor that I would not stay past my time on the schedule. I could go on and on and on, but I think I've gotten my point across. Stay away from this company at all costs. I wish I could rate this trash company less than 1 star.

Pros

5% discount, can wear jeans

Cons

Management very rude, harassment on days off, forced union fees, 15 minute break, low pay 9.25 an hour, scheduling is based off of seniority on their paper and can change any time they feel like it. When you get hired they don’t tell you that they will be calling you every day you have off to come in. If you say no they start acting different like you don’t really want your job because you want your days off. The mandatory union fees on top of low pay make this job pointless because even after you pay your dues. They’re still taking money out your check. The five percent discount barely helps at all it might as well be no discount at all.
