Pros

- Unlimited PTO. For my department and team, it was always honored and respected. I never had any issues taking off the time I needed. - Permanent WFH. This was a pro for me since I dislike loud offices - Some amazing coworkers. I can say I've really made some lasting friendships here.

Cons

Pay attention to the other negative reviews on here. If several employees from various departments are all complaining about the same issues, then chances are, it's a serious problem that the company has not addressed. From my own personal experience, the direction of the company has turned into a haphazard mess from the days when everyone was in the office. Management today has no clue what it's doing and it feels like the blind leading the blind. There was a massive layoff in August 2020 and ever since then, much of the upper-level management abandoned this sinking ship, including the former CEO himself, in 2021. The R&D department, in particular, is suffering. Several top software engineers quit last year, which put a strain on all of the engineering teams. Constant team shifts and changes were made to try to accommodate the shortage of people, but this just led to burnout and a drop in team morale. Despite a few new hires, it didn't feel like the department was able to recover what it once had. Pay is also not competitive in the current market, so they can't hire top talent. Moreover, there are no efforts made to address unfair pay gaps for current employees with the same job title and similar years of experience. For a company that claims to value diversity, it certainly won't be reflected in your paycheck if you identify as a woman or a minority in tech. If you choose to bring this up with your manager and HR, expect to be shut down instantly and threatened with being let go. There is also the issue of lack of transparency and gaslighting by managers, SCRUM masters, etc. during your 1-on-1s. You will be kept in the dark on purpose and whatever you say during these meetings can and will be used against you. It became an incredibly toxic work environment in this regard, despite working remotely. It is a real shame as the other software engineers are great to work with, but management's attitude, lack of training opportunities, and low pay make it hard to justify staying long-term here.

Hey there, thank you for taking the time to share your perspective with the Glassdoor community. It sounds as though you are rather disappointed and upset at the end of your GoCanvas journey, and I am genuinely sorry to see that. I sincerely wish you were as thorough in your communications regarding feedback and improvements whilst you were a team member, as you are in this review. This is the first I have heard of some of your concerns and I am no longer in a position to assist you in bettering your experience. It is clear that you were operating from inaccurate second hand information, and I wish you had reached out directly. I say that because any complaints are taken very seriously and thoroughly investigated, any suggestions of unfairness is looked into. The question of disparity in pay amongst teams came to my attention in 2021, I immediately conducted a compensation analysis and verified the data with HR leadership, seeking to rectify any disparity. However none was found, any differences in pay were a result of different levels of qualifications, of years of experience. On the occasions in the past where a similar analysis has shown a difference, action was taken and salaries raised to ensure fairness. I am also confused about a lack of transparency you feel you experienced. Company-wide Allhands occur every other week and each one covers updates from major departments as well as company results. As a software engineer, you were invited to Engineering Allhands and Scrum meetings such as, standups and retrospectives for your team. Futhermore, our C-suite all have an open door policy that the team takes advantage of weekly. I am sorry to hear that your GoCanvas journey was soured in the end, whether that be by relying on second hand infortmation, or not reaching out for help. I truly wish your experience had been different and wish you all the best in your career moving forwards.

Pros

We got some money when K1 bought us

Cons

I find it comical that authentic is one of core values ("We tell the truth, even when it is uncomfortable") and yet the website is a total misrepresentation of the company today. More than 2 dozen names and pictures are still being used from team members of 3-4 years ago. And yet, the company still uses their pictures to represent a diverse workforce, despite that most of these peeps are no longer employees, and as a way to con new applicants that everything is stable. About us banner page, both of those team members left "Get to know all of us section" - at least 4 of those team members left, some during the RiF "Meet the team" banner - pretty sure every one of those 8 people are gone "Want a personalized demo" - neither of those two people can give you one, because they no longer work here For anyone interviewing here, go onto every page where an employee photo exists and ask the hiring manager to speak to that specific team member so you can hear directly from one of the featured faces. You'll be floored how many times 'they no longer work here' will be said.

Hey there, thanks for taking the time to share your opinions with the Glassdoor community. Firstly, thank you for your many contributions! With a tenure like yours of 3-4 years, you would have been involved in, and had your fingerprints on, a lot of our innovations, from Toolkits to Webforms, not to mention how we all came together during COVID. You are absolutely correct that the last time we had a total revamp of the images on our website was some years ago now, and since then our focus has been on navigating COVID whilst supporting our team and subscribers. Whilst updating the website with all of the new faces has not been a priority, and significantly more difficult as we are now a remote-first company and our team members can no longer come in to get their photos taken. Diversity in hiring has remained core for us however, so much so that diversity has remained steady overall at GoCanvas, and increased in some groups - such as our Executive Team. Thank you again for the detailed list of images to update, I have passed these on to the team responsible for the website, and thank you again for your contributions. All the best in your future endeavors.
