Poor Management and Empty Promises

Pros

Unlimited PTO policy is nice if you are able to use it.

Cons

- Middle management is weak. They focus more on the exec team than they do the employees under them. They show little care for how the employees are doing and focus wholly on appearances. - There is almost no ability for career growth in terms of promotions. Raises come very sparingly and are typically 2%, which doesn't even cover inflation.

Pros

GoEngineer is very open to feedback from everyone in the company, encouraging bottom-up, entrepreneurial type activities. If you have an idea, the leadership encourages you to raise your hand and contribute to the company. At the same time, GoEngineer invests tons of time and money building systems to make the customer experience better.

Cons

As the company has grown so fast in the past 10 years, it is tough to stay connected to the remote teams. The company is working on improving communication, to make sure all employees feel like they are part of the team.

Pros

Culture of learning and growth is important to leaders and team members. Team members mentor and encourage you to try new things and improve. Fast paced environment, lots of change and opportunity. Rewards those who try to excel and master their role and help others. Management tries to listen to feedback from the ground up and drive positive change.

Cons

Change is near constant, if you aren't able to be a self starter and motivated to adapt, it can be tough. Vacation time can be hard to disconnect from office. Remote work outside of Salt Lake can be a different experience than inside the corporate office. Growing pains, the company has grown very quickly and some departments/systems are playing catch up which has been a challenge. This happens at many companies who are facing rapid growth however and not unique to GoE.
