Thank you for taking the time to write a thoughtful review. It's great to hear your positive feedback on our product and strong team camaraderie. However, it was hard to read your concerns about diversity, lack of transparency, and career progression. Cultivating diversity and belonging, communicating transparently, and growth and development are core leadership principles at Gong, and we work hard to achieve them every day. Looking at our diversity, while we're proud of the progress we've made (more info here → https://www.gong.io/blog/belongatgong-our-annual-dei-update/), we acknowledge there is more to do, and our executive leadership team – and company – are committed to making it happen. We are also all working together towards our company priorities (I was energized after hearing them shared at kick-off in February; hopefully, you were too), and I look forward to using these as our Northstar in the year ahead to nurture a diverse GTM team and ensure our leaders are providing a positive experience where all employees can flourish. Your feedback is valuable, and I'm here to listen if you'd like to share further. - Suni Lobo (CPO)

Pros

Amazing senior leadership with a true vision. The product is amazing, most of the sales team used the tool at a previous company. They have built an awesome team with a great culture of celebrating. The company does invest a lot in its employees with training which is awesome.

Cons

A little too much rule by fear in sales management. They tell most new reps that they are "worried about them" to get people to work harder. There was a lot of guilt-tripping people about taking vacations at the end of the year, even though our CRO took a vacation at the end of a quarter. I have seen more SDR's move to other departments than getting promoted to AE which seems odd as well. Also, too many shout outs for people staying at the office until seven working, just seems unhealthy.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts. I am certainly happy to see that much of what we are aiming for is coming through in your experience: great set of teammates, a culture that celebrates wins, and the investment in our people through training. I am equally disappointed that we are missing the mark for you in key areas. Motivation through fear is poor leadership and has no place at Gong. Thanks for helping make us better through your feedback. And... good call out on my poor vacation planning. True. :)

Great product but unethical practices and too many operational inefficiencies

Pros

I'll echo what everyone else says about the product. It really is great. It's what drew me to Gong, but unfortunately it's not enough.

Cons

Gong refuses to invest properly in the tools and operations to run many of its teams efficiently. There is a ton of manual work which resulted in over-hiring, hierarchy where hierarchy doesn't need to exist, and total lack of ability to be creative and build. You will be suppressed from leadership if you have more than two layers between you and C-Suite and generally treated like a second-class citizen. Leadership is pretty terrible and like many have said before, all from Tableau and LinkedIn so there's zero creativity and so much red tape. Lastly, people get fired left and right and I've heard managers make jokes about it. It's extremely unethical. Also, comp is pretty low compared to similar tech companies.

I appreciate you taking the time to write a thoughtful review – and I’m happy to hear you think the product is great. Gong’s leadership principles include No Royalty (leadership is about responsibility, not superiority) and Empower Your Team (hire, nurture, grow), so it was difficult to read your feedback. Our culture is focused on inclusivity, where employees feel respected and belong…and a place where they can excel. I’m sorry that hasn’t been your experience. I truly value feedback, so please reach out to me. I’d like to better understand your experiences so I can help: ryan.longfield@gong.io Ryan Longfield CRO
