Pros

Great benefits, although premiums were a little expensive. Ability to work remotely guarantees some work-life balance compared to a traditional office job. Nice all-company meeting accommodations (2x a year). You get nice swag when you first start and your first 6 weeks are mostly self-guided training sessions, your team leaves you alone while you're learning.

Cons

They constantly change their policies, practices, and expectations, it's hard to keep up. Transparency frequently only occurs if you are personally close to your peers/supervisor. Open communication is an issue...if your peers aren't talking to you, it's viewed as your problem to fix, not management's. Not fully flexible, as you are expected to log in in your timezone by 9AM and work a somewhat traditional 9 to 5 work routine. You're also expected to be accessible within the 9-5 work hours and your online status is monitored closely, as they expect a prompt response when instant-messaged. A workforce reduction in late 2017 purged a lot of great talent, citing budget issues, but posted most of those positions only a month later and, when asked, they advised those individuals that they're not qualified to fill their previous positions. Too much reliance on emails and distribution lists for primary communication. Way too many meetings, many not relevant to your daily work. Not a lot of diversity. Managers are not permitted to give you job references when you leave. Too much emphasis on being "extraordinary" and being a "rockstar". It encouraged unhealthy cut-throat competition amongst peers.

Thank you for taking time to write this review. The RIF just over a year ago was a challenging time for Goodway. We lost key business at no fault of our own which required us to make some tough decisions about our staff. We have spent the last year evaluating and reviewing how we do things so we can continue to be a successful business and a great employer. We learned a lot: what we should continue doing and learned what we can do better in the future. Many of your comments have already been addressed and directly improved upon as part of that reflection. We are continuing to train our managers, have created additional communication venues and are testing different team and department models. While we think of our employees as a family, we are a business with business needs. We are continuing to work toward supporting our employees and the business and feedback like this helps us become even better. Thank you again and I wish you the best in your current endeavor!

Hostile, Retaliatory work environment

Pros

Benefits package, work from home.

Cons

Mid-level “leadership” in my department is under-experienced, vindictive, paranoid, myopic, unable to communicate honestly and effectively and completely unethical in behavior. As the company grows, rather than focus on solving for needs based on that growth, they instead seem unable to figure out how to solve process and role issues, instead opting to find ways to blame their employees for everything. Patrolling social media, LinkedIn, scouring through employee communication trying to identify bad seeds rather than recognizing they are the cause of their own department issues. Petty, conniving, insecure behavior that is a disservice to the organization. Retaliation against employees who resign after being persecuted by leadership.

Thank you for the feedback in this review, I would have loved the opportunity to discuss and learn more details about your experience and share with our Leadership team and Department Heads. I think feedback of this importance should be and will be shared. We take this feedback seriously and work to ensure everyone has a good experience while working here and a positive experience as they transition to something else. Thank you for the advice, you provide a lot of great feedback. I know there is a lot of disappointment because of our reduction in force, it was not an easy decision and one that was made without a lot of thought. We have a lot of great employees here at Goodway, but the reduction was not a layoff or a PIP (Performance Improvement Plan), those are very different. In cases where a company unfortunately needs to reduce it's workforce, all jobs are looked at and the future needs are weighed against current staff. In our case, we will not need as many employees to support our 2018 clients and tough decisions needed to be made. I also want to reiterate that we do listen to and read all feedback that is provided. Whether it's through Glassdoor, Suggestion Ox, First Break all the Rules or other methods. We take it all very seriously and act on it. We are developing programs to better train and support our Managers based on feedback. You should be able to go to your manager with feedback, but if you cannot, please reach out to anyone in EE or OE. We are here to help but we can't if we don't know there is an issue. Thank you again and I sincerely hope you reach out to discuss.
