Pros

Work from home and company trips

Cons

Really bad leadership team of revolving players. Nobody says anything other than yes to the CEO which inflates his ego and causes constant “restructuring”. Surprised the Wolk family hasn’t shown him the door yet.

Disheartening Place to Work

Pros

PTO policy was generous when I worked there. I’m aware that it is unlimited PTO now. It’s also remote.

Cons

Salary was abysmal! I didn’t realize this until leaving, but I was paid very, very low and was unable to get raises outside of performance review standards. They used remote work as a way to justify the lower salaries, which is no longer lucrative given the growing list of companies offering remote work. There was very little room for growth unless you were a “yes man” to those in leadership. Leadership was almost cult-like. They planned dept. changes in secret and gaslit you into thinking nothing was going on behind the scenes when you questioned things. I did not feel heard, respected, or valued during my time at Goodway. I was part of the RIF but do not hold any negative feelings pertaining to that, as large clients coming & going is a natural process in Advertising. I would not recommend working here to anyone I care for, and have encouraged people to apply elsewhere when asked if it’s a good place to work.

Thank you for taking the time to leave this review and providing candid feedback. I'm sorry to hear this was your experience at Goodway Group. One of our cultural pillars is caring about one another and we strive to create avenues and channels where team members feel heard. It is a priority to create a place of belonging where employees can truly thrive through personal growth, development, and relationships. We create opportunities for feedback through peer groups, confidential third-party platforms, internal anonymous surveys, and town hall-style meetings with leadership. In doing so, we learn a lot from feedback and continue to evolve! At Goodway, we recognize that our people are by far the most significant asset we have! Our compensation framework represents a philosophy that includes discussion of both tangible and intangible benefits of being part of our workplace. Our strategy is not only market-based but holistically focused. We focus on performance and look at the overall impact someone is making internally and with our valued clients. The conversations around performance and compensation are no longer once a year, but ongoing. Consistent, timely feedback is threaded throughout our workdays and something we value greatly. Again, we appreciate your feedback and wish you all the best in your endeavors!

Pros

Work from home. Biannual company get togethers. Will learn a lot about a growing industry in programmatic.

Cons

Goodway is an extremely competitive company internally that believes good enough won't cut it. The company is obsessed with progressive discipline. Supervisors throw their direct reports under the bus regularly to make themselves look better. Many people have been fired in the past year for performance reasons, most of whom were good at their jobs. Any mistake made starts the 3 strikes you're out process, no matter how small. Employees are encouraged to give feedback, but when they do voice their opinions, they are often written up.

Thank you for taking the time to write this review. We've heard similar feedback before and have already made changes to our process. 1) We split the Performance Improvement Plan out from progressive discipline to help those who are not performing improve BEFORE moving to progressive discipline. 2) We just completed the first Manager Development Program with current managers to help mitigate what you describe above. And 3) we have provided more resources and tools for managers so they can better help you. With any change, it takes time to see the changes fully take effect but since we were made aware of these challenges several months ago, we have been able to work on these since. I think you'll see a change in 2018 and if not, please reach out to EE so we can help you directly. Thanks!
