Pros

Grade Potential is a great company! They truly care about their tutors and their clients and regularly check up on them to make sure they are doing well. Other than that, one of the great things about working for the company is that you are somewhat your own boss. Besides them setting you up with people that need tutoring (and you get to decide whether you are comfortable tutoring them or not), you make the session appointments, you choose the subjects you wish to tutor in, and you pick and log your work hours. Because you pick your own hours, they are very flexible and work does not add to stress at all. And there is no minimum number of hours that you need to work per week. On top of that, they wire money directly into your account so you do not have to worry about cashing a check every month or so. Their website to supplement your work is very easy to use and straightforward and their staff is extremely helpful and nice.

Cons

There are few cons of working here but if I had to pick some out I may say the fact that you only get paid monthly. Also you never know what type of student you are going to get to tutor so you have to be pretty tolerant of people to work here.

Pros

I have been tutoring privately for approximately 8 years now, and have never worked for a tutoring agency until I signed on with Grade Potential. Having said that, I can honestly say that working for this company has been an absolute pleasure. I applied online after seeing a Craigslist advertisement. I was initially hesitant about sending my information to anyone on Craigslist, but I could tell from even the initial introductory videos that this company was great at what they do. About a week after applying, I received an e-mail saying that I had been accepted as a panel tutor, and that someone would contact me if and when a student became available. A few weeks later, I received a phone call for my "phone interview" and to connect me with my first student. As a graduate student currently working on my Ph.D. it can be tough to find additional work that is flexible and also fiscally rewarding. I do feel that Grade Potential does a great job of compensating tutors appropriately for factors such as tutor credentials, driving distance, commitment to working with a student for a longer time period, and high demand of hours. What I would say is the flagship of this agency is the speed with which they connect their clients with a tutor. The typical turnaround time from my receipt of new student info to scheduling the first appointment is less than 24 hours. Clients are consistently impressed with how fast Grade Potential puts me in touch with them, and with the quality of instruction they receive. This has been general feedback from several of my students who have worked with numerous tutors throughout the years. In my experience, many of the Grade Potential clients with whom I have worked are long-time clients of the company. I think that this fact speaks highly to the effort Grade Potential puts forth into not only securing new clients, but to retaining them as well. Speaking with the Grade Potential corporate office is always such a pleasure. They are attentive, welcoming, and effective. This is true whether speaking via telephone or e-mail correspondence. Also, tracking hours online is fast, easy, and reliable. There has been no confusion over my claimed hours, and monthly pay scheduling is consistent. It seems to me that Grade Potential tends to serve affluent areas of San Diego. From the perspective of the guy showing up to someone's home for the first meeting, this is always a nice plus. There is a definite level of comfort in working in the nice areas of town that one would not necessarily experience with any tutoring agency.

Cons

After connecting with my first two clients soon after hiring, it took quite some time for me to be offered additional students. I think this arises due to the high volume of tutors Grade Potential employs.
