Pros

The work is very engaging and the company is very progressive. If you are looking to learn about business this is a great company to work for. They are always looking for new ways to do things and they do a good job of developing their employees. Their tuition reimbursement program is also good, so take advantage of it.

Cons

They often reorg their company so don't get too attached to your co-workers. It is hard sometimes to be as agile as the company would like you to be, so be sure to be ready for a lot of change.

Pros

Strong company even in a down economy. People from all walks of life add great diversity to the workforce and a great resource at the same time. Benefit package is very solid. Profit sharing is a nice addition especially since the company is a cash cow and very profitable.

Cons

There's seems to be a lot of "flavor of the month" things rolled out that get lost in the mix. They could do a better job of seeing things through and giving them a longer life before tossing it by the wayside. Form after form to fill out. Base and incentive could be stronger.

Disappointing But Solid

Pros

Being a Fortune 500 company, one can easily state that having Grainger on one's resume is an eye catcher. It is a hard working and pressurefilled environment with increadible amounts of responsibility placed upon each employee. That being said, the benefits package is excellent and one can always switch to another sector.

Cons

Grainger's upper management is very poor. This porbably has to do with the fact that many in these positions are friends or former colleagues of those already there. Many people try very hard to move up into management, however any promotion is ONLY based on one's understanding of WWG proceedures, than any real results or attitude. Too often have people been promoted who have bad attitudes or are overy rude to their employees. Lastly, if one is in their 20s, especially recent college grads, you will find the environment dull and disappointing
