Pros

Easy work, that's about it

Cons

Horrible management. They like to hire friends to self promote each other. I was hired onto a team in IT (EDI) and had to teach people how to read xml, JavaScript, etc to do the job correctly. Once I taught them the manager promoted them all including the new hires and kept me at the same level when I worked there for 3 years. If you didn't know the manager outside of work or kiss their butts you would be treated horribly and be given horrible reviews which will lead to firing. I was one of the only employees with a degree and background in IT. They took what I knew and used it for their benefit without ever giving me credit. Treats individuals differently (discrimate) based on race and sex. Manager often stated she didn't care about men and would ask what we did on the job so she could explain what we as a team did. She didn't even know what we worked on. The turnover rate was roughly 160 percent in 2 and a half years. Was 50 50 with male to female now is 95 percent female as no males were given a promotion or raise. Most men are forced out. If you are female and don't buy into the B's you too will be forced out. Again, I'm only giving you my experience but can tell you I'm doing the same thing for another company making much more money and not being treated so disrespectfully.

Pros

Strong brand recognition with great products, services, and suppliers. With pricing realignment and a focus on selling value, makes selling the Grainger story easy. However, stay in the box!! They have built a nice box, and they don’t deviate from it easily, even for their largest customers. The people are top rate, and army’s of them...which leads for lots of personal growth and learning as well as advancement (at lower levels). Also one of the most diverse and inclusive companies I’ve worked for, EXCEPT for women in Senior Management.

Cons

Politics rule the roost. If you want to advance beyond lower management you MUST be connected and drink the Kool-Aid. They do not like outside opinion or challenging individuals. Few women in Mid and Senior Leader roles. The tend to reward the average and above average, more the plodder than the exceptional. Average tenure is 15-20 years which stifles aggressive/energy.

Pros

Employee benefits - Profit sharing, 401K, PTO, Bonus, Good Pay

Cons

I lost my job as part of a reorganization, but survived two previous to the final one. There were a lot of changes going on in 2018 and 2017 but I think it's subsided now that they have a slightly new business model
