Pros

Strong market position with nearly all industrial packaging lines. Global reach providing an ability to structure deals with major international customers to leverage supply chain. Solid benefits with middle of the road salary competitiveness. Past technology leader with strategic plant locations.

Cons

Poor investment decision making by the executive board has led the corporation into new, under performing market areas that has bled the company of cash. Technology leadership and plant re-investment in core businesses has suffered as the organization retrenches to improve cash flow and lower costs. Hyper focus on lowering SG&A metrics has drained the company of experienced technical and commercial leadership forcing the remaining middle management to compromise customer satisfaction, facility maintenance and equipment re-investment. Necessary facility shuttering of unprofitable plants has been executed without appropriate global customer interaction causing serious market share erosion that could have been avoided with better planning. It appears as if corporate management is moving quickly to cut costs and praying profits will spike in order to prop up the numbers for a company sale.

Safety as an above all priority. Continuous improvement learning and training.

Cons

The work/life balance is non-existent at the Management level. Currently the senior management team is struggling to get all headed in the right direction.

Pros

Pay, Benefits, Hard-working production team, Account Managers that truly care about the customer and advocate for them. Providing help and support to some of the top companies in the world.

Cons

Greif aims to be a top-performing global customer service company, guided by values like Personal Accountability and Respect for Others. These principles inspired me to become a Customer Service Representative. However, within two months, I found discrepancies between the company's ideals and practices, especially at the Alsip plant, where there was a lack of support and a toxic work environment. Despite Greif's overall reputation, these issues made it difficult to continue. I resigned in November, promising to stay for three months until they found a replacement. Similarly, my colleague, who started with me, also resigned, citing concerns for her mental well-being. Lack of accountability, Indifference/Lack of Concern for customer needs and hardships, Unsupportive leadership that seems to be more concerned about Financials versus doing the right thing. Having to constantly apologize to customers for not meeting standards/expectations.
