Pros

Only pro is is the starting salary for management.

Cons

Where do I start....The pay of most of the frontline employees is so low ($14 in 2021!)that there is constant turnover plus you won’t get quality labor. It is a working supervisor job aka manager’s have to do manual labor as well as your job too. Each facility is ran like it’s own little company so don’t expect support from HQs. It’s 100 degrees in the summer at the plants and cold in the winter. They use temp agencies for labor support and with a wage of $14 dollars temp agencies send their people elsewhere. If you are an educated, forward thinking people leader used to an nice working environment don’t work there. Their facilities have the feel of an early 19th century sweatshop. Warminster,Pa

Pros

As a company, Greif is great. They care about their employees financial, physical, and mental well being. Comfortable pay, amazing benefits and retirement plans.

Cons

Being in production, at a 24 hour paper mill, you aren’t a person anymore. You’re just another cog in the machine. The demands keep growing, while the pay stays the same. They also don’t pay based on aptitude and dedication. Everyone with the same job title has the same base pay, and only your hourly cost of living/shift differential pay rates are different. However, these amounts are based on length of employment, as opposed to how skilled and self motivated you are. Which you have to be self motivated, as training is done by word of mouth. Everyone runs the machines slightly different, and you’re taught your next position by someone who is currently working in that position. No training manuals or reference material for how to set up and run the machines. No reference material for trouble shooting problems with the machines or paper defects.

Pros

Great people in their plants, safety focused, continuous improvement focused, work life balance is pretty good, a lot of team work in the plants.

Cons

Upper echelons of Greif are really disjointed, leadership is poor, the company makes no capital improvements or reinvestment back into upgrading equipment, budgets are often cut to meet short term goals. Greif promotes who they like, not who is best suited for the job.
