The money is better than fast food, but I absolutely hate this job.

Pros

The pay (in theory) is decent compared to other businesses in the area.

Cons

The reason why I said that the pay is good in theory is because no matter what you do, it will never be enough. I get paid the same to stand in a refrigerator in my department for the duration of my shift as I would be getting paidvto work at the register in the front (which I never would've agreed to if they'd mentioned it when I was hired). There is constant task inflation; the high expectations get higher constantly. I am actively looking to replace this job as it has become terrible for my physical and mental health.

Pros

HEB is great to its employees, which it calls its partners. Recently they were given stock options and made actual partners of the company. They took good care of the community, and were able to help me with a variety of things as the various elements in my life changed around school.

Cons

First and foremost it is a company, so there are many times when you are forced deal with the various hoops that a company with a large bureaucracy makes you jump through.

Pros

Good training ground for your next position. Be sure you don't stay too long. You won't have a personal life and will receive calls at all hours with no administrative support.

Cons

They are discriminatory against whites females over 40. I interviewed for a Director position and the Hispanic male interviewers gave the promotion to a Hispanic female under age 30. Then they had the audacity to ask me to share my ideas from my interview with the incompetent person they selected. Needless to say, I left the company and she was demoted after a year.
