Pros

Vacation accrual, sick time, ability to travel, internal promotions. The skills I’ve learned in my 10 year journey with the company has helped me feel more empowered and confident for other jobs that I apply for.

Cons

I spent almost 10 years of my life with this company. They will sell you out in a heartbeat. Claim to care about your well-being and growth as a person and an employee and it’s just the biggest bold-faced lie I’ve ever been told. They will give you empty promises and sell you short when a promotion becomes available. Two-faced rats. When there were times of triumph they were celebrated but as soon as things are negative or you don’t complete a task immediately, you are criticized and your shortcomings are blasted on a megaphone. The most unprofessional place I’ve ever had the dissatisfaction of working for. I feel sorry for folks who are still there.

Pros

Very values-oriented company. Great product selections. Very good on-going training programs. The ability to build great professional relationships with store team is fantastic.

Cons

Where to begin: The company has seemed to have lost it's way via it's "rapid growth period", especially in a "certain" Southern market. VERY(read: next to non-existent) poor communication with most of the District team members. Many people are poorly placed in their various roles without nary a clue of what they are doing, from the recruiter sourcing poor candidates to lead new stores(leading to unprecedented turnover from committed store team members), to facilities managers that take weeks to address known safety and operating issues. Most egregious of the many challenges are the broken promises towards a path of growth with the company. This was a company that really prided themselves on promotion from within. However, that came with a catch, as in only if you were liked, no matter how well you performed at your job. It's rather unfortunate to have witnessed how low the morale of our market became in such a short amount of time...

Pros

Relaxed dress code and good PTO benefits

Cons

The company culture has drastically gone downhill over the past two years I have worked here. The district/corporate office has put more and more pressure on lower level employees with no pay increase and with decrease in hours. They essentially are expecting us to do more with less employees while raising their standards to levels we cannot reach. This has caused management to become more aggressive with writing up employees over things that are beyond their control and has made the entire store’s morale go down. This company does not promote within or allow for growth, they would much rather hire someone new from outside the company than give you any opportunity to grow or get an increase in pay. This job has the highest turnover rate for any job I’ve ever worked at, including management. The employee discount is basically worthless now because they continue to raise prices without improving upon the quality or design of the merchandise.
