Pros

Not a lot of good things to say. All of the perks have been removed over the last few years. Pay check arrives every 2 weeks.

Cons

Some project engineers and chief engineers only have technology degrees instead of an engineering degrees. HR doesn't realize there is a difference. Sick time and excused time were replaced with PTO. Now all of the employees come to work sick. Working from home isn't allowed. No 4-10 or 9-80 schedules like other companies are offering.

Pros

The pay and benefits are fair.

Cons

EXTREMELY RACIST AND SEXIEST Do not work with you nor have any understanding nor compassion for those who have children. You will apply for one thing and they will “loan” you to another trade as if you just got sold by your master, doing everything under the sun LITERALLY BACK BREAKING WORK Have to be on probation for 150 days and only can miss 5 days out of that. If you want FMLA, you have to work there a year and have worked a total of 2500 hours to even qualify. If you are a breastfeeding mother, you will have two UNPAID 18 min breaks to pump. The list goes on.

It appears you are working in one of our craft positions and it is absolutely true that shipbuilding is not for everyone. Terms of employment (e.g., probationary period) for these jobs are set by a collective bargaining agreement. With respect to benefits, we invite you to contact NNS' EEO office to address your concerns.

Code of Ethics

Pros

If you are in a department working for management that believes in the code of ethics you may have good opportunities. The pay is decent and there are a lot of nice people. You can have pride in what you do if you have open minded people there to empower you and encourage growth. You can learn a lot and have a good career if you can steer clear of bad seeds. Overall I would still recommend tue company just be cautious

Cons

There are no resources for employees when subjected to code of ethics violations. Human resources is unfair and stand with mgmt in most cases I am aware of. There is still a lot of good old boy club going on. HR turns a blind eye to manipulators in mgmt. the open line hotline is a setup. They say it is handled by a 3rd party that is unbiased but it is not. The business conduct office IS HR. If you contact HR or the business conduct office you have just put a target on your back and they will find anything or swing things in a way to railroad you. Its called don't rock the boat. So whether you are being discriminated against, sexually harassed, bullied, witness a security violation or anything else they talk about in code of ethics handbook dont report it unless you are ready for the wrath of hell. You would be surprised on what HR can do to turn it on you and het away with it. They will seek revenge on negative complaints and they along with the person or people being reported with conspire to ruin you and strip you of your career and self confidence. They lie. The parking situation is horrible

These are serious allegations. HR and the Ethics Office perform thorough investigations of complaints of violations of the company's Code of Ethics. If an employee believes a complaint was not properly considered, he or she can contact the NNS Law department or initiate a formal complaint through the grievance process (for represented employees) or the Dispute Resolution Procedure (for non-represented employees).
