Pros

- Freedom to explore/learn various aspects of the software developed - Great leadership by technical leads - No micromanaging of work being done - Minimal required meetings--more time to program - No toxic culture, very friendly environment - Access to cutting-edge technology (e.g., beefy work laptops, workstations, etc.)

Cons

- Legacy components that are slowly being upgraded - Inconsistent/bloated software requirements due to lack of direction by customers/program managers) - Corporate HR/IT pains (e.g., arbitrary promotion slots available, inconsistent raises, etc.) - Defense will always pay less than other areas of the technology market

Pros

Pay, benefits are probably the only thing forcing people to stay here.

Cons

Culture, lack of tracking, lack of accountability, subpar communication throughout all departments, lack of adequate workforce. I’ve worked stressful jobs but this was beyond anything I’ve seen. I personally walked in on two people crying in the bathroom over the job within two weeks of each other. There was zero training for my position and I was expected to pick it up from others around me. Whenever there’s a problem you have to basically beg people from different departments to try to help you track down information. People were working well over 40 hours but were exempt from overtime. Zero work/life balance. Every project thinks they’re more important than the next and individuals will demand things be done instantly.
