Pros

The people are great - everyone is very friendly and helpful. People like to hang out with each other outside of work and definitely like to have fun throughout the day. NOT your stale office job for sure! Senior leaders are truly invested in making it a positive environment and want HITT to be successful. Corporate Resources teams are very supportive and helpful. HR Team is ALWAYS there whenever I have questions or concerns. Great onboarding experience - very professional and detailed to make you feel like you are being set up for success. They offer additional trainings for anyone in the company through "HITT University". Overall, great experience and excited for my future at HITT!

Cons

Construction is hard work - but that's the same no matter where you go in the industry.

Pros

There are a ton of internal and external resources and education they provide. They're extremely structured for new hires and it's a great opportunity if you're just starting your career in a corporate resource role and want to work for a largely recognized firm. If you're in project management or site operations and show potential, they definitely put their full support behind you to make you successful. Each of the business units function as a family. You get extremely close with the units you work with as well as your own. There's a lot of loyalty within each unit.

Cons

If you don't show an extremely strong Type A personality, or are not a high performer in site ops or project management, you can get lost in the crowd and looked over for promotions. As a corporate resource, there are a TON of internal politics. It's a good job if you're just starting out, but don't expect to stay for more than a handful of years. The culture glorifies overworking and putting your job before literally everything else. They pretend it's just a work hard play hard mentality, but it's an expectation that if you want to be successful, you need to actively show you sacrifice your free time for your job. They handled the pandemic so poorly. It was a very big-brother-is-always-watching kind of mentality. They didn't trust their employees to be productive at home, and mandated everyone return to the office in May of 2020. There was constant / vocal discourse on it, and leadership did not care. There was a ton of turnover from how they handled it.

Pros

- Exposure to great projects and great clients - Smart and experienced team members with lots of knowledge - Great benefits package

Cons

- ZERO work/life balance - Upper management likes to trick younger employees into failing and looking bad - Less experienced employees are scapegoat for all problems - Expect a minimum 60 hour work week - You get penalized for having a life outside of HITT. They want you to eat, sleep, breathe HITT. Living up to the social expectation of the job is part of your review. - Managers and team members will hold all negative feedback until review time to hurt their peers ability to receive promotions and raises. - The company is a good old fashion boys club. If the old regime doesn't like you, you'll be an outsider before you know it.

Thank you for your feedback and taking the time to write a review. While working hard is a key core value at HITT, we certainly want our team members to have a good balance. As a voted top workplace, the majority of our team members have reported a positive work/life balance. However, we are constantly looking for ways to enhance the team member experience and welcome feedback as it helps us to consistently improve. I encourage you to reach out to our HR team and share any additional details you may have. Please feel free to contact me directly – Nazanin Codd, Vice President, HR at ncodd@hitt-gc.com.
