Thank you for sharing your feedback. We do have great coworkers and get to do interesting work for a variety of clients. As a small company, we have to stay nimble in order to serve an ever changing market. This means that our strategies or protocols may change more often than in larger organizations and it can feel a little disorganized at times. We don't believe innovation can happen without some disorganization or change in direction but recognize that it can be jarring for staff. We would be open to any recommendations or suggestions you may have about offsetting the impact of the changes or providing staff with more support for their workloads.

Pros

Looking back on my time at Hanover I appreciate the experience for what it was: a stepping stone for future roles. The training is overall good for Survey, not as good for Secondary. The experience looks good on your resume, especially since you can earn promotions quickly (although Content has moved from 6-month to 12-month review cycles, which slows this down from how it used to be). Time off and benefits are overall good, with the exception of 401k. Lots of people hang out outside of work, so it's a good job for people new to the DC area.

Cons

After a few years you don't learn as many new skills. Base pay is not high, and promotions often don't have big raises attached. People managers vary a lot in their engagement with direct reports. 401k match is not generous compared to overall benefits package.

Thank you for your feedback. There isn't a lot here that I would disagree with besides the 'doesn't recommend' rating you provided. All of the pros listed are great reasons to join Hanover as an entry level employee - a lot of training opportunities, it looks great on a resume and promotion opportunities. Raises do become more substantial as employees move up in the organization but it has been challenging for most organizations to stay ahead of the increase in salary expectations in certain markets. We are working on addressing it in certain parts of the business. We would be open to having more conversations with staff to retain them before they put in their notice but these conversations need to be initiated by the employee. We do review our 401(k) matching each year and based on input from staff, have chosen to keep health care costs low for employees instead of increasing the company matching portion. This decision puts more money in our employees pockets each pay-period that they can choose to use for their retirement savings, paying back student loans, etc. Employees at all levels have direct access to our executive team through coffee check-ins, the anonymous suggestion box as well as just reaching out over email. We're still small enough where this is possible to do. Hanover can definitely open a lot of doors and we're a great first job for all the reasons you've listed as well as a few more like our remarkable cohort of employees and the impactful work we do each day. That said, I appreciate you sharing your thoughts on your time at the company.
