Pros

Great place to work with many opportunities for growth. Harris has a small business environment within a large corporation. This gives many opportunities to try different jobs and work with different groups. I actually left once for a new opportunity and came back after a year.

Cons

Not the highest compensation compared to industry standards. However, there are great benefits with a generous vacation policy.

Pros

Harris business unit autonomy keeps a small company feel with accountability for results. Growth & learning opportunities are always available. The people are great. The flexibility to work remote is highly valuable to me. The core values are key and promote a good culture.

Cons

No cons specific to Harris.

Pros

Once was once a small software product ClassMate, owned by another smallish business empire called ClassLink. ClassMate at that time was a great place to work, great team, there were cons but it all somehow worked out and everyone got along, built/supported a good product, and cared about our clients.

Cons

Harris Computer Inc. bought ClassMate product from ClassLink and it all went to crap. Typical 'giant company' problems now became our problems - disinterested top management, uninformed decision making, unrealistic goals based on incorrect understanding of what the product was and was capable of, and heavy handed management style of people who'd previously proved they didn't need such tactics. "Downsized" people were CLEARLY chosen by age and salary, not performance reasons or seniority or merit, etc. However, offers of 4 to 8 weeks severance pay on condition of signing non-legal-action promise meant everyone felt obligated to sign and get paid to find another job....
