Very Open and Collaborative Culture

Pros

- a lot of transparency and information sharing - your ideas and opinions are valued; collaborative culture - access to senior management; the opposite of hierarchical - your learning and development is supported - generous paid time off (3 weeks vacation time, 2 weeks of sick time, 1 week of family sick time, volunteer days, and more!) - employee recognition programs - work from home and (somewhat) flexible schedules - great benefits and perks - onsite cafeteria - free parking

Cons

- base salary is competitive, but can sometimes fall on the lower range; however HBP has great benefits and a generous bonus/incentive program, which can offset a lower base when you look at the total package - for most roles, there is no set career path (some larger organizations have this)

Focused on Contribution to HBS

Business Outlook

Pros

It's like many other companies, people are trying to survive, not thrive. Focused on hitting that multi-million-dollar contribution to Harvard.

Cons

Brought in a new CEO who seemed like she wanted to make some strategic changes in a good way. She left with in a year. The company has been declining since.

Avoid IT department

Business Outlook

Pros

Great people at company Lots of potential for the company New co-presidents are the right women for the job(s) Good benefits Flexible schedule (for most)

Cons

Poor ability to hold individual units accountable to best practices - talent management, etc Horrendous IT leadership - no clear strategy, no sense of what is required to execute, zero focus on talent development, decisions are top-down, executive is combative and has created a toxic culture where people are afraid to discuss issues openly with him. Per a recent discussion with a colleague: "You know how he gets, he was basically just yelling at me the whole time." A statement to which we all clearly understood and empathized with. IT leadership has made little to no genuine effort on DE&I - always focused on checking boxes and not fixing general underlying culture issues.
