Pros

No issues, support you well and a path to make your way up the ladder with them. Average wage

Cons

Mississauga office can get laborious, need to get on a project with them. Canteen food is terrible.

Pros

Employees are often empowered to take ownership and direction of their work. I felt a lot of freedom to explore my interests and was able to contribute in may ways to the company. This brought more money in and made me happy.

Cons

Most financial and promotional benefits filter to management. Because of the loose structure that has allowed Hatch to grow and promoted a good work culture in the past, the company has too many 'managers' now and its hard for younger employees to step up and make contributions without a manager taking credit for it. Things that are top heavy fall over...

Pros

Montreal office: Great infrastructure projects, willingness to give young engineers challenging opportunities (depending on the sector)

Cons

Montreal Tunnel group has zero in-house geotechnical engineering design capacity (Mississauga office does all design work), no clear business plan, an ever-evolving structure where roles are disturbingly vague, project management and controls are damningly lacking, inappropriate for younger engineers looking for design/build experience on major projects (technical expertise is shunned, as is innovation). General: Long hours, most are unpaid. Paternalistic male-dominated management structure, with inflexible mandatory work times (8-5, no exceptions) with public dressing down if one deviates. Workplace misogyny is pervasive, especially among senior male engineers.
