Pros

Management sincerely wants a great culture.

Cons

Healthcare technology is a tough industry right now, there aren't ways to progress in your career. it's also hard to keep work/life balance when you fear layoffs.

Thanks for your feedback. I recognize that economic realities have reduced our ability to offer promotions for every team member, as well as created the situation where we’ve needed to make difficult decisions to balance long-term sustainability. As shared in our April ATM, promotions are still considered as needed, with a bias toward promoting from within. We are also planning a companywide promotion cycle in Spring 2025. I am also pleased that our core team members will be receiving meaningful base salary increases later this year. It sounds like we have improvements to make in our messaging around our promotion framework. We would love to hear your ideas for doing better here. Please set up time with your Leadership Team member, Linda Llewelyn, or me. I hope you’ll find a bright future ahead for you at Health Catalyst as an analytics engineer. Thanks for your nine years of contributions to our success. Best, Dan Burton

Pros

Great benefits, good work-life balance. Really enjoy working with my peer developers. Considerable opportunities to work with interesting technologies.

Cons

Difficult period after going public with various rounds of layoffs. Strategic direction seems chaotic and leadership feels more top-down than in years past.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts and feedback. I’m glad to know that you have a healthy work-life balance. As a leadership team, we have had to make difficult decisions to balance long-term sustainability with short-term realities of the market, and I can appreciate this may feel chaotic at times. I’m hopeful that as we execute against that strategy, things start to feel more stable. Thanks for your contributions to our success. Best, Dan Burton

Pros

I really like the work that I do and the people that I work with. Communication is open and the environment has always been respectful. Compensation is fair for the healthcare space (maybe a little better) but across all industries compensation is average. Benefits are above average. A truly remote work environment and there has never been a return-to-office expectation. I feel like I have the stewardship to make decisions that are best for the customers I work with. There are some economic indicators that hint that the healthcare industry may be improving.

Cons

The technology that I use to do my job is 15 to 20 years old and substantially out of date but this is generally consistent the provider side of healthcare. There just isn't any money in healthcare right now and growth has stagnated. This implies that working for Health Catalyst comes with above average employment risk and career advancement may be limited and slower than average.

Thanks for your thoughtful feedback. In regards to your concern about an outdated tech stack, I am excited that we recently announced our next-generation data and analytics platform, Ignite, to ensure that we are using the latest, best-in-class technology in our work with our clients. And I know there have been economic head winds, and I believe and agree with you in that we are seeing a shift in that and I am excited about re-accelerating our growth. Thanks for your support and your years of contributions to our success. Best, Dan Burton
