Pros

Fantastic individuals who make it hard to leave. They are like hostages and support each other.

Cons

Such an awful culture of blame, distrust, ineffective leadership and CEO who thinks English people are lazy and not as intelligent as he is! Goal posts change consistently and you are only as good as your last mistake! The really good people have been leaving over the past year and it's noticeable to what they brought to the business but was belittled or blanked out for being innovative which really clashed with the CEO opinion. It's his way or no way!

Ego inflated management in fear of CEO

Pros

Salary better than the average. Good mix of people and experience. A procurement hub. Good for the CV, good for a full experience of the procurement cycle. A useful network of people considering the turnover.

Cons

Prior to American influx; Straightforward albeit limiting strategy, was more of a category/framework manager role, running multiple further competitions with NHS Trusts. Also almost a sales role to onboard NHS Trusts onto frameworks. Post American influx; Some management is inflated, "blue sky thinking" and ego deflecting any real guidance. A fear of the CEO, who rightfully bought in the attitude to optimise the organisation. A few employees of the business who had coasted at a senior level up until this point became slightly wary. A hire-em-fire-em culture transpired, an interim HR consultant was bought in to seemingly find loopholes and aggressively get rid of a lot of people. The manner in which many good employees left or were pushed out, some during their notice period was disturbing. This seemed to be with the support of many of the senior staff. Trusted staff have been made "Directors".

Workers Discover Black Hole in Healthcare

Pros

It's a steady job with an income and benefits.

Cons

Extremely poor, biased leadership. Few opportunities for advancement for women. Cliques among executives. Extreme "good ole boy" network, but that means if you're "in" you're "in" and share in the gravy train of wealth with your buddies. LOTS of politics to the point where I witnessed good employees shut out from advancement simply because an exec in another division of the company (not the one hiring the position) either didn't like the person or preferred that a "friend" be hired. Absolutely no recognition for a job well done. In the past 4 years, management has had only one staff meeting....and that was to announce that several employees would have to be let go.
