Pros

Depending on department, management is usually pretty good, ratios are fair (most of the time), self schedule, decent PTO.

Cons

If you transfer from bedside to outpatient despite still being acute care and still being under hospital governance they will take away your retention bonus despite that not being in the contract you sign. No additional pay or bonus for certification or specialization if you aren’t bedside.

Lack of growth opportunity, poor pay and treatment for loyal employees. Lower management do not share the values promoted by administration.

When you are hired full time the benefits are comparable. I did not use health insurance offered because we are a military family. The PTO earned every pay period is pretty decent, at least 6 hours per pay period after 90 days. There were small pay raises annually roughly about $0.25 - $0.35. At times the Managers were authorized to give $1 plus raises to deserving and exceptional employees. I appreciated the fact that the environment is faith-based.

Cons

I worked in a Cardiology clinic. There wasn't much room for promotion or progression among the CMA employees.
