Poor management, total incompetence, departments work against each other, hating each other and competing. Two major layoffs in the past two years, no regard or respects for employees whatsoever. People get thrown out in the street like dogs after 25 years of loyal service. Only HR does not get affected, although the entire department is too large, too incompetent and damn lazy. Employees who were chosen to be let go were caught by hand at the entrance in the AM, dragged into a conference room next to the lobby and thrown out without being able to pack their stuff or say good-byes to co-workers. The way upper management treats people is unheard of! No wonder, the company is sinking and losing business.

-Management (demonstrates little accountability, with a lot of finger pointing and "passing the buck" when they come under fire) -Complex, confusing, and inconsistent internal rules and procedures -Toxic work environment -High Turnover rate (7 people quit in less than 3 years) due to the factors listed above Specifically, there are only 2 people currently working there that have worked there for more than 5 years. Other than that, most people in my experience quit within a year to a year-and-a-half, so it is safe to say the 2 that are left (who, not coincidentally, make all the decisions in the tech transfer department) are the common denominator in all the maddness that ensues there. For example, one of the managers no longer has ANY subordinates working under them, due to that person's deplorable track record with their last 4 subordinates. It is no exaggeration when I tell you that the last 5 people that worked there and quit (including myself) have stated out loud, "This is the WORST work environment I have ever worked in". HJF as a whole and the HJF Legal department (in which the technology transfer group resides) actually appear to be good places to work, so this critique does not necessarily apply to HJF as a whole. But the tech transfer department itself (primarily management) is highly dysfunctional, petty, and duplicitous. I HIGHLY recommend against working under them unless you have no other options.
