Thank you for writing us a review! We’ll be upfront, though—after reading through your comments, the title you’ve given the review is definitely misleading! We do agree, however, that Heritage provides great hands on experience with more senior level staff, and we certainly pride ourselves with the outstanding level of care that our residents receive. Connecting with our residents and families is important; we’re so happy that you were able to do that. You are correct in noting that no day is routine! In healthcare, every day is seemingly new with some new or different challenge brought to the table. We hope this excites our current staff and potential candidates, but if it doesn’t—then healthcare (and Heritage) is probably not for you. Because every day is different, there is no 100% guarantee that your shift will end exactly as planned. Our residents come first—and this might mean staying an extra 10 minutes to assist the nurse manager with a task to help a resident. To assist managers in identifying which employees are a best-match for filling a gap in coverage and to avoid overtime, we have implemented a system called Kronos Scheduling and hired schedulers at most facilities. Schedulers are in charge of making sure the schedule ‘balances’ so that we have the coverage we need, but also, making sure we are staffing the right people at the right time. We’re sorry you think our managers fell short in thanking and outwardly appreciating employees. Through our Happy to Oblige (H2O) program, it is Heritage’s objective to empower and motivate each and every employee to create a friendly and respectful environment for the delivery of care which can be made a sustainable and permanent part of Heritage culture. Saying ‘thank you’ is certainly an important part of internal communication, and is addressed each year in our refresher H2O classroom courses!
