Pros

Highgate fosters a performance-driven yet collaborative culture where innovation is encouraged and leadership is empowered to act. The support from corporate is responsive and forward-thinking. The company prioritizes long-term growth while remaining nimble and entrepreneurial, which is rare in large hotel management groups. I've had the opportunity to directly impact strategy and performance, with ownership and autonomy in my role. The company also invests in tools and resources to stay competitive in evolving markets.

Cons

Highgate moves fast and expects results, which can be demanding if you’re not self-motivated or adaptable. Priorities can shift quickly in response to ownership or market changes, so staying agile is key.

Pros

Salary was higher than most reception positions, but not enough for an executive assistant to multiple personnel. Some co-workers are kind and try their best.

Cons

Bullying is prevalent and annoying when you don't engage in it. HR is messy. Completely unorganized reporting structure. Constant physical food or drink messes that no one would clean up no matter how many times you advised them that you are not a maid. Consistent complaints for things your position would have nothing to do with directed towards my role because the reporting structure is not transparent about how to report concerns correctly. Extremely unprofessional behavior and bias toward particular ethnicity groups over others. Little to no diversity. Unlimited PTO, but the structure is only built so that they don't pay you out when you leave. They will hound you to know every detail of what you are doing on your time off and pretend to have a "family" atmosphere. Dodging complaints of customers constantly.

Pros

Benefit options are okay, but nothing stellar. Still nice to have things like Healthcare and such with the job.

Cons

The decisions they make for their properties (or at least the one I work under) are completely off the mark for what the individual establishment needs, and it becomes a detriment to employees, guests, and the property itself. One begins to question if it's intentional sabotage or not. They cut budgets while enforcing stupid fees that only harm the hotel's reputation and service - for example, they enforce a $12 parking fee for a hotel that doesn't have any security, cameras, or additional service for its parking lot. On the flip side, they don't provide sufficient funds for a sufficient complimentary breakfast (I believe it's $3 per person when the average is closer to $5-$6), and they've even cut hours to the point Front Desk department employees must now do Breakfast Attendant, Houseman, and Laundry responsibilities, and I'm fairly certain the same can be said for other departments doing other responsibilities. This shatters employee morale, and with strict hour tracking combined with the chaos that is hotel occupancy and starting wages being state minimums, many employees wanna leave as early as one week into the job.
