Toxic Environment - Stifled Voices, Unrealistic Expectations, Work Life Balance Non Existent

Pros

The HR department and recruiters are excellent and did a great job with helping me staff my properties. They were kind and people first oriented. I also liked the accounting department. Some of the people I worked with were great but they have all sense left or are leaving to get away from the toxic environment.

Cons

Long Hours with little to no support unfortunately. I was expected to bring my laptop with me during weekends off and PTO. I frequently was required to work weekends. I lost most of my staff upon starting the position and was expected to handle the territory with only 3 days worth of visiting the properties with little training. We were told not to tell development if something was left in a state that was unacceptable for turnover standards for the industry and that Construction had no desire to know if there were things we could improve on to save the company money. Additionally we were instructed to allow other departments to fail to prove a point. Very toxic environment and I am very thankful I left when I did. If the reviews are showing negative things its because its true. I chose to overlook these reviews as well as my gut telling me this was not the right move because the pay looked so inviting. I quickly found out the hard way it was not worth my peace of mind.

Pros

The idea and goal sounds great. For the most part. It is a good product. Some great people do work for the company.

Cons

New hiring process is terrible!! Culture index should be a tool, not an end all be all. New Regional Managers should actually have experience and not depend on their overly experienced staff members to do their work for them. If there is an issue, truly discuss it.. have a mediation, give that person an opportunity to defend themselves. Stop allowing people to use the race card and always win. That may NOT have been the case.

Owner throws large parties for employees Some positions get a free company vehicle to drive to and from work

Cons

Owner has bad attitude and big ego Owner makes decisions on a whim, and doesn't communicate well No training High expectations, no communication about expectations No organization No sense in having a job description, you're going to do whatever the owner tells you to that day
