Pros

There is never a shortage of work.

Cons

To be a successful tech. at home team, you must give up your personal life. If you love being chained to your job, it is for you. Management at all levels cares for nothing more than the bottom line.

As a former HomeTeam employee, we appreciate you taking the time to share your perspective. Your rating leaves a lot of room for improvement, and we take your comments very seriously. It is unfortunate to hear that you were an employee for 8+ years and did not feel you were provided with work-life balance during your tenure with us. Your comment about the lack of support from company leadership is also disappointing. At HomeTeam, we know our employees are our biggest asset, and we are continuously working to improve the employee experience. Thank you again for sharing your feedback, and best wishes on your future endeavors.

Pros

Working outdoors Take home company truck Gas paid for Guaranteed raises (Pre Covid) Parties on the clock/off the clock {xmas, Customer Service scores, team building, chili cookoff} Uniform paid for, extras available at request {usually you can get about 10 shirts 10 pants 1 pair of boots, a couple hats, a warm jacket BUT no raincoat} free ice and water{bring your own cooler} sometimes free Gatorade and other snacks No experience required...at all. Installer position is taught through field work and training with a manager and a senior tech at different times On the installer side you get a small tight knit group of people willing to help out to try to make sure everyone gets home at a decent hour. stay in touch with everyone {free company iPhone} so that other people know that you need help and you will get it Looks great on a resume since it is a corporate structure 401k matching healthcare benefits life insurance 1.5x overtime available Tools and supplies included and readily available at shop PTO {Not sure starting but at 4 yrs I'm at 120hrs per year}

Cons

Summer heat brings fast employee turnover/burnout If someone calls out everyone is expected to take care of their work on top of their own{i.e. working late or in some cases working Saturday} Mandatory Saturdays will happen out of nowhere. This is not a company thing its just other Field Managers from different construction companies will call us at 5pm on a Friday and say "oops this has to be done before Monday otherwise your tech will have to do their work in an insulated house". Insulated houses- sometimes the FMs wont even call us and we will show up to a job site and have to *carefully* pull the insulation which can add 30min to an hour and a half extra time on top of you having to do your job. Our job is considered an "optional addition" to the job site. meaning every other trade will break your lines or FMs will forget that your job exists and will drywall up a house before you get there. DRUG TESTS - this is a light construction job that does ACTUAL RANDOM TESTING. I am not joking, there is an algorithm that determines how many and whom will be tested that month, they also test before hire and if your get into an accident, but again this is the only job i have ever had where they use ACTUAL RANDOM TESTING. Overtime is pretty much required until you can install Taexx in your sleep. The job quota will remain the same for awhile until you can handle 2 installs a day {about 3 month timeframe} then they will start to add more and more on you per day to see what you can handle. some builders do many homes of around the same shape and size, while others build massive customs homes. you will be allotted the same amount of time per day for those. your co workers will be pest control technicians making around double what you make, you can transfer into that after about a year but you must have someone replacing you in the installer department. the raised are capped at 5% but usually only hit 5% if someone wasn't getting paid right in the first place so expect 4% corporate structure means "always improving" just company lingo for "No matter what you do, how high you jump, how late you stay, how much you help others we will always ask more from you"

WOW! This is an incredibly detailed and thoughtful review! As a 4-year HomeTeam employee, we greatly appreciate you taking the time to share your positive feedback, as well as some challenges you have experienced throughout your tenure. It's great to hear that you enjoy many aspects of your job, such as working outdoors, a take-home company truck, company-paid supplies, an extensive benefits package, and a helpful and supportive team! You also mentioned several areas that could be improved. Some of the detractors you brought up are company-mandated guidelines, while others are policies that vary by location. I am forwarding your comments to the leadership team for review. I also encourage you to reach out to your branch/region leaders or HR with any concerns or suggestions you have that could improve the employee experience. We appreciate your dedication to HomeTeam and welcome your feedback!
