Pros

I had a great experience while working at Hormel for the most part. The managers there are somewhat helpful but in order to succeed you need to be self motivated.

Cons

One of the biggest downsides about working at Hormel is the fact that they will not hesitate to move you around the country if you are promoted.

Pros

Stable company Conservative financials with virtually no debt Good customer relationships Strong execution mentality Familiar brands Good people overall Good responsibility record

Cons

HR has hamstrung the organization and lacks the talent to position the company for a changing business environment Senior leadership team is a mixed bag of accidental appointments. Many would not have the qualifications to apply for their job in a peer company. Talks about innovation but does not deliver. Company says it respects the individual, then promotes bullies. Underperforming employees are allowed to stay in positions for years or are repeatedly transferred to other departments with the same results.
