Pros

- The people that I worked with on a daily basis were wonderful and really embodied the HEART culture HubSpot strives for - Fantastic WLB / flexibility in work schedule

Cons

- I can’t speak for all Hubs, but the one I worked in lacked a clear, unified vision, and product teams operated in silos. This resulted in teams acting as feature factories and not being able to move the needle on larger initiatives. If you’re a new designer, this could be a great fit to get your hands dirty and ship product, but as an experienced designer, it was an exhausting and uninspiring product culture to work in. - Compensation is relatively low compared to industry standards. There were improvements during my time at HubSpot (which was definitely appreciated), but there is still a big gap.

Pros

* Good internal infrastructure for build & deploy, confidence in infrastructure teams * My experience has been one of trust between product management and engineering * Frontend tech stack is catching up a lot this year * Recent ACR and 3-year vesting made pay much more competitive * Generous vacation policy and culture of actually supporting taking time off * Solid work life balance * Smart, ambitious, kind coworkers * Transparent leadership * Remote, flex, or in-office work possible, and can switch every year * I love my manager, and most people I talk to report the same experience * Strong business - company has good prospects and financials * Internal mobility encouraged * Company walks the walk with DI&B

Cons

* Technical interview questions are extremely standardized so a lot of candidates google them. We need to invest in a more diverse pool of interview questions. * Mission occasionally feels a bit uninspiring, though not all the time. A possible side effect of "growing up", scaling to a bigger business - each team has less relative impact on the whole product than before * Poor 401k match * Engineering title inflation. Should use a level based system - too many "senior" engineers with 1 year experience

Pros

Excellent culture at HubSpot. Hands down one of the best organizations when it comes to their people and the culture they have established. DI&B is of top priority and this is something that makes everyone proud to work there. PTO is unlimited and the management genuinely promotes work/life balance.

Cons

Lack of visibility in regards to pay bands and pay in general. Annual increases, are not a regular practice for those in Customer Support roles. Vague reviews and a lack of understanding as a whole from the Support org on pay increases based on performance. Managers in level 2 positions, (above the support team manager level 1) -- they typically are hands off and the average member does not know them or have opportunities to get to know them. So, while your manager level 1 -- is your advocate/mentor, manager level 2 will be providing approval on promotions and increases based solely on KPIs and your manager level 1's ability to advocate.

Thanks for being part of our Global Support org. On pay transparency, I think/hope the improvements we made this month help drive that conversation with managers and their teams, and reviews are standard 2x per year and only three questions at the moment. If there are other ways you think we could simplify it, happy to listen and would love your feedback on it. On the manager levels, I don't know enough about this to comment, so will flag to our BPs to ensure they see this. Thanks for your feedback and for helping Support grow! -Katie
