Pros

It's hard to imagine a workplace better than Hudl in my opinion. Our benefits are bar none—401K matching, stock options, flexible time-off, summer and winter holiday breaks, competitive medical coverage, and a fully-paid sabbatical vacation every 5 years. Not to mention an amazing office space with free daily lunch and adult snack time in our Lincoln HQ location. In my time at Hudl I got married, got a dog, bought a house, and had two kids. Not to mention both kids were born in the COVID-19 pandemic era (talk about a horrible time to have a major life change). I've literally grown up with Hudl and can't picture a better company to work for in my most transformative years. I've seen a lot of people come and go in my time at Hudl and every time I wonder if they're truly happier at their next place of employment or if they just chased the "grass is always greener" mentality and wish they could come back. It's hard to know and probably varies for each person! But I've always told myself that I'll keep working at Hudl so long as I'm challenged, respected, and encouraged daily. After nearly 7 years, that's still true! And especially important as a woman in a leadership position within a sports technology company—both adjectives that tend to be filled by male-dominated roles.

Cons

The only con I struggle with Hudl as an employer is our compensation. When the company compares our titles directly to other places, we're paid similarly. But Hudl is unique! We wear a LOT of hats and the things I do in my job are a culmination of probably five other jobs at other locations. It's hard to compare apples to oranges so in my opinion, we're underpaid. However, we truly do have the best benefits I've ever seen and a culture/team atmosphere that can't be beat. Salary is something I'm currently willing to negotiate to get that flexibility in other areas of my life. I know Hudl's senior leadership is working daily to improve our compensation philosophy and I've recently gotten to see it first hand so I know they're working on it and I'm excited for its release. Once that's made official, Hudl will truly be *the* place to work.

Thanks for taking the time to share such a thoughtful review. While there are plenty of great insights I could call out, I think you summed it up best: Hudl is a place where you can count on being challenged, respected and encouraged. You’re right, we do ask a lot of our team members, but we also support and reward them accordingly. As you also mentioned, we’ve undertaken a major compensation review for every job to ensure that compensation meets or exceeds market. And things like our health coverage, robust parental leave and flexible work are all parts of what make our compensation package competitive and well-rounded. I’m proud that Hudl has been an integral part of both your career and personal journeys, and that you’re an integral part of our team’s leadership group. We're lucky to have you on the team!

I appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts. Honestly, it hurts to hear that your experience has been anything but positive. Our goal has always been to give Hudlies all the tools they need to be successful in their role at Hudl and develop their future skills. It sounds like you were able to experience our world-class offices and perks, like free lunch and a new laptop. But it’s concerning that you felt there was unfairness or lack of mobility in your development. Management and personal development are two areas that we are focused on for the next year and beyond, so I hope that will alleviate some of the misalignments you’re experiencing. While this may sound like an empty gesture, I really mean it when I say that I’m always available and open to hear your #realtalk and feedback. If you don’t feel comfortable sharing with me directly, you can also reach out to your HR Business Partner, who can deliver your feedback anonymously. Thanks for being a part of the team.
