Pros

The best reason to work at the Hyatt Place is the amount of connection you can have with the guests. Being able to check them in and then serve them beer/wine allows you the opportunity to really get to know the people staying at the hotel. Ours is a pretty busy location, so you learn all sorts of things about the U.S. from the people that you meet!

Cons

My property doesn't really foster promotion, notably because there isn't much room for promotion at the Hyatt Places. The other thing is that we are being paid front desk attendant pay to be a concierge, front desk attendant, bartender, barista and cook... that's hardly worth it...

Pros

Brand recognition and resume building. It's understaffed, so you get a lot of experience doing anything and everything.

Cons

No management leadership, so there is no employee recognition, vision, or creative thinking. The organizational structure is disjointed, so learnings are not shared, career development paths are undefined, and there is no opportunity unless it's convenient for the organization to give it to you.

Pros

Executive Management at specific hotels is pretty decent...my boss was the BEST in the WEST and I am not sure that Corporate ever knew that.

Cons

LOADS and LOADS of hours and not a lot of pay. Great place to network for future jobs. Sometimes it felt that promotes were not merit based ....based more on the "cycle".
